Last month I left New York City and headed south to Austin, Texas for a week long business trip. Even though I was there for work I managed to see a few things, eat BBQ and explore The Congress Bridge which is home to many local bats.
My co-workers and I took the Lone Star Riverboat Bat cruise where we had dinner and waited near the bridge for what they call, “the bat show”. Every day from March until November, 1.5 million bats emerge from underneath the bridge and spiral into the night sky.
As I had no idea what to expect, I originally wasn’t over joyed with the thought of going to see bats but it turned out to be a neat experience. I couldn’t believe the amount of bats in the sky! It was like something out of a Sci-Fi movie. The photo I took doesn’t quite do them justice. You will have to see them for yourself!
If you’re headed to Austin, you don’t want to miss this!
Sincerely, Tish
